Simone’s favourite essential oil blends to use with our scalp brush
Wondering what essential oil blends you can create to use with our scalp brush?
Our CEO and Founder, Simone Abaron, breaks down some of her favourite blends that she uses for a little self-care ritual at home using essential oils and our 5-in-1 Scalp and Shampoo Brush.
The basics of blending essential oils
The beauty of using essential oils is that you can create your own beautiful blend based on your needs at that particular time. If you’ve watched our videos or read our blogs before, you’ll know Simone's a big fan of adjusting diet and hair care based on her needs, goals and activities- this means that she focuses on eating different things, using different products and making different essential oil blends over the course of the year, based on her needs.
To begin with, don't use essential oils neat on your hair or scalp- essential oils should always be blended with a base or carrier oil. Simone loves using jojoba oil, but equally almond oil, apricot kernel or avocado oil are great too. You could even just use some olive oil. You really only need at most 10 mL to cover your hair and scalp well, even with long thick hair like Simone's. Select 2 – 3 essential oils and use 2 – 3 drops of each essential oil in your base oil- so no more than 9 or 10 drops of essential oil in total.

Simone also pops a few crystals in the bottom of her blend to amplify the energetics.
See you on the flipside, Rapunzel
For slow growing hair, a combination of peppermint, rosemary, thyme, atlas cedar and lavender oils work a treat. If you are looking to boost your growth, use a wholistic approach.
Dry like the desert
Is your hair and scalp feeling particularly dry, dehydrated or brittle? Simone's go-to for dry hair are ylang ylang which has a balancing action on oil production, frankincense, orange oil or sandalwood.
Insane in the brain
Is your itchy scalp driving you round the twist lately? Use a calming blend of lavender, chamomile oil, frankincense for its wound healing properties, sandalwood, peppermint or geranium.
Fight oil with oil
If you're experiencing an oily scalp or hair, blend ylang ylang, clary sage, tea tree, rosemary, lemon or geranium.
Bust the flakes
For those that experience dandruff, combine lemongrass (only 1 drop because it can be sensitising for some people), clary sage, tea tree, frankincense or geranium. If your scalp is need of a reset, start here.
Self-love in the midst of chaos
This is one Simone uses when she needs some self-love in the midst of chaos. It might have been a busy week with lots of commitments or that she feels the need for a nervous system reset. Lavender, along with frankincense or sandalwood to balance the base and crown chakras, and to calm and slow down the breathing, as well as ylang ylang or geranium are great choices.
Energise the soul
If Simone feels the need to re-energise herself, she'll combine lavender with orange, lemon or lemongrass.
Amplify with our 5-in-1 Scalp & Shampoo Brush
Once you've created your blend, Simone loves warming it very gently over a tea light candle or oil burner. Place 10 - 15 drops on your scalp all the way around your hairline and your crown and pour whatever is left over the rest of your hair. Using our 5-in-1 Scalp and Shampoo Brush, work your blend into your scalp with gentle circular motions for a few minutes. Simone's tip is to use 2 brushes at the same time to elevate this experience to a whole new level. Learn about using our 5-in-1 Scalp Brush for hair growth here, or how to give yourself an incredible head massage here.
Leave your hair for 30 minutes to allow the oils to work their magic, then wash and style your hair as normal.
Simone's personal promise is that this will be the most spectacular experience you’ll have today. Enjoy!
