Every great innovation starts not with a business plan, but with a problem that demands a solution. For Apotecari founder Simone Abaron, that moment came in the wake of a personal hair disaster in 2013 - one that set her on an unexpected path. Simone’s once long and healthy hair was ruined at the hands of a stylist, leaving her with hair that was so badly snapped, broken and damaged that the only option was to cut it into a pixi-cut and allow it regrow. With an already successful career in naturopathy and product formulation, having developed best-selling formulations for some of the world’s leading supplement brands, she wasn’t looking to start a brand or sell products. She was simply searching for answers, for a way to fix her extreme hair damage and grow her hair back.
During her search what she found was a glaring gap in the market. Despite the countless topical hair care products available, none truly addressed hair health from within - at the cellular level, where real transformation happens. And surely, she wasn’t the only one searching for something backed by science, not just marketing!
When expertise meets experience
With her accomplished background in naturopathy, herbalism, and product formulation, Simone was uniquely positioned to bridge that gap. Determined to deepen her expertise, she immersed herself in Trichology, the study of hair and scalp conditions. Combining a thorough technical understanding of the hair and scalp with her years of product development expertise, she crafted a solution designed not just for herself, but for anyone seeking a research-driven, results-focused approach to hair wellness.
What began as a personal necessity soon evolved into something bigger: a movement towards science-backed, inside-out hair care. Apotecari wasn’t born from a boardroom strategy - it was born from real experience, real need, and a relentless pursuit of something better.

Yet, with innovation comes imitation. In the age of social media, influencer marketing, and e-commerce-driven brands prioritising profit over purpose, it's no surprise that imitators have emerged. We’ve seen it firsthand - from brands mimicking our uniquely formulated products to those using our (trademarked!) product names. Even more surprising? Some of these copycat brands have gone so far as to purchase our products, only to later claim they had ‘never heard of Apotecari.’ 😮💨
What saddens us most about imitation products is knowing that customers are missing out on the quality, efficacy, and results they deserve. Instead they find themselves misguided by brands that blur the lines between inspiration and deception, and that leaves us wondering what else they're doing that lacks the authenticity and transparency that customers truly deserve.
